Some kitchens are designed to a deadline. Others, like this one, are allowed to evolve over time.

This kitchen in Casa Lakol, Florida, USA, didn’t happen overnight. It started in 2021, when the homeowner, Deepa Lakhlani, Founder of @studiolakhlani, stripped her house down to the essentials — rethinking plumbing, electrical, and layout from the ground up. With no deadline to meet, the kitchen became a place for Deepa to test ideas and live with them before making final decisions. A method she has no regrets about, and one that clearly paid off.

Over time, and through a process of refinement, the final materials took shape. That’s when our painted Framed Oak doors were selected to complement the existing IKEA Sektion kitchen base — a defining element that brought warmth and balance to the space.

The Framed Oak fronts, in our signature Beige, introduced a natural texture that paired perfectly with the limestone floors. The modular IKEA foundation offered flexibility, while the addition of our doors added a crafted finish.

We really love and admire the bold and somewhat unexpected choices Deepa made in this space, like the brown Italian limestone countertop, the plastered walls and hood, the antique brass hardware from and the rustic salvaged table that serves not only as the island, but a grounding centrepiece that adds soul and softness to the lines around it.

It's one thing to make a kitchen functional, it's another to make it feel crafted. In my search, most cabinet systems I saw felt like you were choosing between cost and character. Fronteriors offered both, like something hand picked, not stamped. The wood grain I selected for my fronts had a quiet authenticity to it, warm, tactile and just irregular enough to feel bespoke.

This kitchen didn’t come together in a matter of weeks — it unfolded in layers. With time to live, reflect, shift. And in that process, something special happened. Deepa wanted the kind of kitchen that felt like it had always been there. Lived in. With soul. We think she's outdone herself and we love seeing Fronteriors in such an inspirational home.
